Wine Country day trips are the perfect antidote to San Francisco's gloomy, grey summer. I'm quickly becoming a regular at the pool at Francis Ford Coppola Winery. I love short road trips and the freedom and summer vibes that come with them. If you're heading up to Sonoma, I highly recommend stopping in Healdsburg.
The downtown is cute, walkable and full of little shops, tasting rooms and restaurants. There are less of the stuffy art galleries than there used to me and more fun shops. Healdsburg SHED is the perfect place for a stop. There's good, healthy fresh food, coffee and lots of cute kitchen, home and cooking items.
Spices, vases, ceramics and table linens are all stand outs. If you're looking to do a picnic, they have fresh bread, cheese, wine and pre-made salads. There are shaded tables outside, garden supplies and a fresh flower station. It's exactly what I think of when I picture Wine Country.
