Relaxing, inviting, comfortable, green, and full of plants. That's what I set out to create with the small deck area off our main living space and kitchen. It took a few years of hard work and plant experimenting, but I think I'm finally most of the way there!
We're lucky enough to have several outdoor options accessible from our flat, and after several years of plant experimenting, I finally have a jungle oasis container garden. Our deck gets hot sun for a few hours a day, but is shaded the rest of the time. This meant it was a bit challenging figuring out what kinds of plants would thrive. An additional challenge has been that everything lives in a pot. This means it's pretty easy to plant something new, but actually quite difficult to get a full, mature garden look. Recently, I've added a citrus tree and a few larger flowering shrubs. About a year ago I got a climbing jasmine, and I'm working on gently training it up the wall.
I'm constantly looking to upgrade the Ikea bistro set with two comfy chairs or a bench, but finding something modern and budget friendly isn't easy. I love this white bench from CB2, but can't quite stomach spending that much for something to sit outside and get dirty.
As a little note, I wanted to share some info about ONEHOPE Wine, which was featured in this shoot. They're all about creating amazing wines while still giving back. To date, ONEHOPE Wine has made $2 million in donations, provided over 2,600 clinical trials for cancer patients, helped 13,000 animals find their forever homes, provided 1.1 million meals for children, 33,000 life-saving vaccines and much more. Purchasing wine from ONEHOPE means that you'll enjoy and excellent bottle while helping others.
Since it's finally Indian Summer, it's the perfect time to grab a snack and a glass of wine and sit outside. These are some of the last warm days we'll have for a while, so enjoy them! Cheers!
