Hi There.

Limitless San Francisco is more than a lifestyle blog--it's a love letter to The City.

How to host a dinner party without a dinning room

One of the few things I constantly want to change about our SF flat is the lack of a dining room, or space to put a traditional table. We're lucky enough to have a great outdoor patio space, large kitchen with island, in-unit laundry and a great living room--but no table. No place to sit in a regular chair and host a dinner party. Or wine party. Or whatever. This year, I wanted to embrace our lack of a table and host a friendsgiving without one.

You really don't need a dining room to create a cozy, comfy place for friends and family to relax and enjoy good food together. I took advantage of our larger than average coffee table to create a welcoming dining space for six. I picked up the table cloth, navy napkins, and white plates and salad bowls at World Market. Many of the pillow covers are from H&M Home (which I'm totally obsessed with) and West Elm. Since I love having plenty of pillows, it was easy to create a cozy place for people to hang out around the table.

I layered textural linens on the table, lit some of my favorite candles, picked up some seasonal blooms at the farmers market and voila! First grown-up dinner party. All it took was a little open minded creative thinking. I picked up a fresh bouquet from the farmer's market (I love the ones on Divisadero and at Fort Mason!), my boyfriend baked some of his amazing sourdough, and we roasted a chicken. Pour some wine, invite some friends and done!
