It seems like the whole month of December is a whirlwind of parties, drinks, friends and sparkles. Every year, the firm I work at treats us to an amazing, wine-filled lunch at Original Joe's, and every year I struggle with what to wear. I want to dress up (everyone gets pretty festive) but not too dressed up since it's lunch. I want to be festive, but not freeze to death walking up to North Beach. I want to be work appropriate and fun. Every year I struggle to find the perfect outfit, but this year I think I've nailed it.
I really embraced the metallic midi skirt trend. This super shiny and comfy blush/rose gold one from Asos was a spur of the moment purchase, and it worked out perfectly! I did a ton of research on what to wear on top, since full midi skirts can be notoriously unflattering. After going through my entire wardrobe, I settled on a simple off-white cami and one of my go-to grandma sweaters. I felt like I needed to incorporate the sweater because I get chilly easily, and my office is always freezing. I picked up these amazing velvet and chrome ankle strap sandals from Nordstrom and I'm really impressed with them.
Our late lunch and white elephant gift exchange usually takes several hours, and afterward a big crew of us head out to the bars to hang out. This look is already pretty dressy for the day, and will transition perfectly for a night out.
I can't wait to wear this skirt out for a girls night or on Christmas. And, since it's blush/rose gold I think I'll be able to wear it throughout the year. Just a warning--pleats can be extremely difficult to iron. I just got this steamer, and I'm obsessed with it. It's quick and easy, and perfect for anything that's difficult to iron.
