From the sleek, minimalist, millennial pink packaging to the simple list of ingredients and dedication to "skin first", Glossier struck a chord with me from the beginning. I knew they had a huge cult following, and that some of their wait list items had lists longer than 10,000. I knew Glossier was founded by beauty editors looking for perfect solutions. What I didn't know was how much Glossier's new Supers would affect my skin and simplify my daily routine.
The Supers were developed with the goal of misidentifying serums. I was someone who moisturized twice a day, always took my makeup off before bed (no matter how many glasses of wine I'd had!), and shelled out good money for pricey department store and Sephora products. I was completely intimidated by serums and honestly didn't feel I had the time or energy to research everything before I made a purchase. A trip to my doctor a few years ago left me with a prescription for Retin A that I was afraid would be too harsh. I felt that finding products that worked, were ethically produced and open about all of their ingredients was difficult and left me with few options. So, when Glossier announced The Supers I got completely swept up in the hype and ordered the set. For $65 you can't beat the price (and if you search around a little there are plenty of 20% off discount codes floating around!) And, if you order the set you'll save $19 versus ordering them individually after you get addicted.
The packaging is amazing. So thoughtful. So branded. So cute! The little bubble wrap pink pouch? Amazing. The free matte Generation G lipstick I found inside? (It was their soon-to-be-launched but now totally available Zip shade! It goes with everything!) Awesome! But, would The Supers live up to the hype? Yes. Yes they freakin' did.
I've been using them for a couple of weeks now, and I'm obsessed/in love. I like how they make my face feel and look. Super Pure has passed the hormonal breakout test with flying colors. Super Glow makes me look healthy and natural. Super Bounce makes my face feel amazing and look great too. I like to use Super Pure at night (but also during the day if I feel a breakout coming on), with Super Glow. I read somewhere that people thought the Vitamin C might degrade in the sunlight, so I just wear it to bed. I use Super Bounce in the morning, and it makes my skin super smooth for applying makeup.
I've seen the videos where people take the dropper, fill it up with product, and then slide it over their skin to apply. This is NOT how I apply it, or now I'd suggest anyone else to apply it. First, don't contaminate the dropper by touching it to your skin. ANY of your skin. Second, an entire dropper seems like a lot. I literally use this stuff one drop at a time.
I've found it's best to work in single drop increments so you don't spill any (the consistency is pretty darn watery), and actually one drop goes a long way. I carefully drop one drop onto the finger pad of my middle finger and then start applying it to my face. You dab it on and it absorbs very quickly. For me, it takes 3-4 drops to cover my face. Way less than a dropper full. It absorbs in seconds, and then you're ready for moisturizer! That's it. So freakin' simple!
Right now, Super Pure might be my fave just because it seems to really help speed up the healing of breakouts and minimize redness. I also love Super Bounce because I feel that I notice an immediate change in my skin when I apply it. Suddenly I look well rested and smooth. The feel is also ah-may-zing.
The Generation G lippie I got is in the new shade Zip, and so far I really, really like it. Again, I'm pretty surprised I like it so much, mostly because I'm a lip balm only kind of girl. The color is very wearable for me, feels pretty good on, and wears beautifully. You can also build the color with a few extra swipes.
I think I've been convinced, and converted to the Glossier Cult. I really want to try their moisturizer and cleanser now! Let me know if you've tried The Supers, and which one(s) are your faves.
