Fall Living Room Update : 90% Complete
I've been working little by little to update our living room for fall, but it's probably 90% complete! Finally! Our tv (which is actually a projector!) fits comfortably into its new home, we've updated a couple of pieces (one more furniture change is in the works but hasn't been ordered yet!), and I've added some textural pieces for fall and winter coziness. I'm a firm believer that since you, as a person, are constantly growing and changing then your surroundings can never be 100% done. There's always something to tweak, or change or a replacement for something you're just not that into anymore. But for now, I'm really loving our living room again.
This shelf from Crate and Barrel was the perfect thing for our busy media corner. It was visually light and bright, it holds everything we need it to, and it was super simple to assemble. The price is super reasonable ($130), and it's literally exactly what I'd been searching for! It's been up for a little over a month and I'm seriously obsessed with it.
The other big change was swapping out some of the textiles in the room. I found these awesome pillow covers from H&M Home that were the perfect way to add some texture and color. The blue is really rich in person, and the velvet is super soft. I ordered a few colors and shades of blue, but only wound up keeping the rich navy.
The last piece of the puzzle is to eventually replace the wooden cabinet/side table in the corner. I've found the perfect piece online at Target, but it's been continuously sold out. :( The first second it comes back in (fingers crossed it gets restocked!!!) I'm buying! There are a couple of other contenders, but none as pretty and perfect as the sold out one. Of course.
I love spending chilly fall evenings snuggled up on the couch with a glass of red wine, candles lit, watching movies. As soon as the weather gets cold or rainy I become a die hard home-body, and it takes serious effort for me to venture out. I'm all about enjoying my time at home, and view my house as an extension and expression of myself. It's important for my living room to reflect my style and aesthetic, and still function as a place to hang out with friends, watch basketball, host dinner parties or have guests spend the night. Since we live in a flat in The City, multi-function is super important. I can't wait to spend the next couple months enjoying the cooler temps and time at home. Happy fall!
